Fifth Harmony – Work From Home (feat. Ty Dolla $ign)

Fifth-Harmony-Work-From-Home-2016-900x900

Fifth Harmony are BACK, and are fiercer, sassier, and sexier than ever before. They’ve returned with new single ‘Work From Home’ featuring US rapper Ty Dolla $ign. The song premiered worldwide along with a pre-order of their upcoming album ‘7/27′, which is due out May this year, and the music video.

The music video was directed by Director X and shows the Fifth Harmony girls strutting their goods over a construction site, sharing the company of some rather, ooh er, rather admirable construction workers, including Mr. Dolla $ign himself. Think about Ciara’s ‘Work’ music video with some added nuts.

REVIEW

Someone get me a bucket of ice cold water! These girls really haven’t held back this time. Being honest, with their last few singles like ‘BO$$’, and ‘Worth It’, I felt like they were maybe trying too hard to be sexy, and it was kind of cringe to watch, but I feel this time they’ve really owned it.

The song is again, a typical radio friendly, modern day R&B song, with another US rapper, however, I do feel the girls have taken this up a notch. Like your favourite ice cream, with added flavour. It’s good right? Ty Dolla $ign doesn’t really add too much to the song, and I do think it would have been a perfect oppurtunity for group member Lauren to sing a few bars, which seems to be one of the topics of conversations surrounding the song.

It has some tropical, summer vibes to it, which makes it a great song to listen to in the heat of the sun, especially since how summer is almost round the corner. I honestly do believe this could be the start of them defining themselves as a world dominating girl group, as there is space in the market for one of those right now. I can see them following the likes of Destiny’s Child and The Pussycat Dolls, and what with today’s technology and a new generation of music, there’s a slight chance they could be bigger, if they play their cards right.

The video is a hot, sizzling, sexy video, and really shows the girls having fun; and why not? I think it’s a chance to appreciate what these girls are capable of, rather than defining them for what they need to be down to their age. Whoever was in charge of recruiting the men in this video also deserves an Oscar or something for whatever category that comes under, because they really contribute to the video…

All in all, I can’t see this going to #1, however I can see it doing really, really well. With enough promotion, and radio airplay, ‘Work From Home’ could be the girls biggest and most girl group defining single yet.
