The BRIT Awards 2017

So the biggest night in British music happened last night, celebrating old national treasures as well as upcoming national treasures, and also celebrating those from across the pond too. It’s the GRAMMYs, but, in Britain.

We saw the likes of Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, Skepta, Little Mix, and even George Michael alongside Chris Martin perform at the ceremony and even a worldwide premiere of The Chainsmokers’ new song. Safe to say, this year’s BRIT Awards was truly something.

***The Critics Choice Award winner is always announced prior to the actual show itself. The BRITs Academy take a list of new and upcoming artists who have huge potential further on in their career. That list is then shortlisted to 3 artists, and a winner is then chosen by the BRITs Academy. Past winners have included the likes of Adele, Jessie J, Ellie Goulding, Florence + The Machine and Sam Smith. Congratulations to Rag’N’Bone Man for winning the award.

****The Global Success award is awarded to an artist who has achieved incredible milestones during their career and is chosen by the BRIT Academy. Congratulations to Adele for winning the award, second year in a row.

*****The Icon Award is awarded to the most influential of artists who have achieved incredible milestones in their career, and have made an impact on the music industry as we know today. It is one of the highest accolades at the BRITs, and upon winning the award, the recipient normally receives a special tribute of some sort. Congratulations Robbie Williams. Your impact on British music truly is outstanding.
