Camila Cabello – Crying In The Club

Ex Fifth Harmony member, Camila Cabello has finally released her debut single as a solo artist, even though collaborating with other artists on her own from the likes of Shawn Mendes, Pitbull and Machine Gun Kelly.

It was clear from the outset that Camila was different to the other girls from Fifth Harmony, but will it show through her new solo career? Will she follow in the footsteps of those like Gwen Stefani, Beyoncé, and Nicole Scherzinger, or will it all start going down hill?

The song title is a little bland in itself, however, it was co-written by Sia herself, and anything that was penned by Sia tends to be a musical genius.

Where do I start? It’s one of those where you think ‘this is going to sound awful, I’m not going to like this,’ and honestly, I did think that. It starts off by jumping on that recent Sia trend of sounding like ‘Cheap Thrills,’ and ‘Shape of You,’ so you think, oh here we go, another one. However, give it a chance because actually, Camila goes off.

I’m not sure what it is about any songs that Sia write, the artist has to sing like Sia does, and had I had not known who this was, my first guess would have been Sia, and it’s clear that Sia was involved. It’s like a ‘Cheap Thrills’/’Genie In A Bottle’ mashup with added Camila, and yes, it works.

My only concern about this song, is that will the public dig it? It’s a great song, but we’ve heard it twice in the last year or so, and even though perhaps both ‘Cheap Thrills’ and ‘Shape of You’ did amazingly well, it’s not to say that a 3rd time lucky, but who knows?

I can see this being played in a club, and everyone getting down to it, and with the right promotion this could easily become a huge single. This song will either make Camila as a solo artist, or it will completely tear her apart, and after listening to this song, it sounds like Camila could give us some bops.
