Pop princess Katy Perry teams up with the queen of rap, Miss Nicki Minaj for ‘Swish Swish’ which is featured on Katy’s upcoming album ‘Witness’. The song was released along with the pre-order for the new album on May 19th and was produced by English chart topping DJ, Duke Dumont.
Despite the mediocre success of ‘Chained to the Rhythm,’ and the dwindling success of ‘Bon Appétit’, this next album could prove to be Katy’s best in terms of production and experimenting.
Can someone get me in contact with a doctor? I’ve been scalped.
Katy and Nicki did that. This is something Katy has never done before, and this honestly should have been the lead single. It’s incredible. The production reminds me of Tinie Tempah’s ‘Girls Like,’ and in respect of dance music, it’s been done before, but this is sass at it’s best. It’s the ultimate gay bop, and I reckon even straight guys will dig this. Nicki goes hard as ever during her verse, and the whole thing is just a masterpiece.
As mentioned, the production sounds very similar to a lot of dance songs that are floating around currently, and it’s very choppy, but it doesn’t mask the fact that this is an anthem in it’s own league and does what Chained to the Rhythm and Bon Appétit should have done.
The thing I like about this Witness era is that every song, despite there only being 3, but every song sounds different and it keeps you on your toes with curiosity about what the album itself is ging to sound like. I am very much looking forward to it.
